Metal Paints & Coatings

Coatings for ferrous & non-ferrous metal surfaces

BMA's metal coating range covers acrylic, epoxy, polyurethane (PU), nitrocellulose (NC) and synthetic systems for ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces — 20 products in total, from surface-cleaning chemicals through to weather-resistant topcoats.

Each system is built for a different job: epoxy and PU coatings hold up under industrial and structural loads, NC finishes give a fast-drying decorative result, and our synthetic enamel range covers general-purpose metalwork. All products are manufactured in Lebanon to ISO-certified standards and exported to 30+ markets across the Middle East and Africa, with technical data sheets and specification support available for every product.

BMA PU Acrylic Paint (listed below as Acrylic Paint) is certified to DIN EN ISO 12944-6:2018, C5-VH, and approved as an anti-corrosive top coat for C5 environments when applied with a suitable intermediate coat and primer. Its data sheet specifies the system: 40 µm of BMA Zinc Rich Epoxy Primer, then 80 µm of BMA High Build Intermediate Epoxy, then the topcoat at 30–50 µm. It is specified for commercial, architectural and structural steelwork, offshore steel works, refineries and power plants, and bus and truck bodies, and the sheet states long-term protection for 15 years and more.

Application guide

How to build a metal coating system

A dependable three-coat build — from bare metal to a durable finish.

  1. 1
    Step 1

    Surface prep

Clean and prepare the metal surface using Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Cleaning Chemicals before any coating is applied.

  2. 2
    Step 2

    Primer

Apply Epoxy Primer, PU Primer or Wash Primer depending on the substrate and exposure conditions.

  3. 3
    Step 3

    Topcoat

Finish with Acrylic Paint, PU Paint or Synthetic Enamel for the required durability and appearance.

Common questions

Metal coating questions

It depends on the system. NC Primer can be overcoated after 2 hours. Primer Epoxy and Paint Epoxy are touch dry in 2 hours and ready to overcoat after 10 to 24 hours. Lacquer Epoxy needs 6 to 8 hours. PU Primer needs 12 hours. Acrylic Paint needs 8 to 12 hours, and Synthetic Enamel and PU Paint both need 24 hours.

Theoretical spreading rates across the metal range run from 7.11 m²/L to 19 m²/L depending on product and film thickness. PU Primer covers 10.68–17.8 m²/L, Epoxy Paint 10.66–12.8 m²/L, Acrylic Paint 10.08–16.8 m²/L and Synthetic Enamel 9.5–19 m²/L. These are theoretical rates at the recommended dry film thickness.

BMA PU Acrylic Paint, listed as Acrylic Paint, is certified to ISO 12944-6:2018 C5-VH and approved as an anti-corrosive top coat for C5 environments when applied over BMA Zinc Rich Epoxy Primer and BMA High Build Intermediate Epoxy. It is specified for offshore steel works, refineries and power plants, and commercial, architectural and structural steelwork.

Yes. Primer Epoxy, Paint Epoxy and Lacquer Epoxy are two-pack products mixed at 25% hardener by volume. Allow a 10-minute induction time before applying, and use the mixture within its 2-hour pot life.

NC Paint and Synthetic Enamel are available in all gloss levels. Synthetic Industrial comes in glossy, matt, semi-matt and 30% glossy. PU Paint comes in glossy, demi-matt and matt. Paint Epoxy is 80% gloss, Lacquer Epoxy 90% gloss, and Primer Epoxy is matt.

Each of the 10 Metal products with a technical data sheet states ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015. BMA PU Acrylic Paint is also certified to ISO 12944-6:2018 C5-VH.
